Hello Everyone!

Welcome to my journal. Here you'll have the occasional ramblings on life, movies, fanfiction, films and whatever else I decide to post. However, I've taken a long look at things and decided to make my journal friends only.

So, if you're interested, leave a comment and most likely I will add you.  I love making new friends and can never have enough of them. :-P

If, however, you are just interested in my fics, you can find them at [info]magikcatfics .

So look around and have fun!

Did you know that the old challenges at [info]omniocular is a treasure trove for prompts? It's a bit eye-popping, to be honest. Am thinking about picking one up to get the creative juices flowing. Maybe more than one.

In otherwords, yes my friends, I am thinking about writing again.

I've been learning to cook the last few weeks, and the other day I made a meatloaf that others insist must be made public. So I am. :)

You need:

1 onion
1 tablespoon of bacon grease (enough to make the bottom of pan very slick)
1lb of ground beef
1lb of ground pork
1egg
1 1/4 cups of breadcrumbs
2 teaspoons of brown sugar
1-2 tablespoons of basil (depending on taste)

1) Preheat oven to 370 degrees

2) Chop onion in half, then cut halves into thin slices.

3) Put grease in frying pan. Caramelize onions by browning onions until soft and sweet.

4) Crack egg and mix it thoroughly in small bowl.

5) Put meat, onions, eggs, and other ingredients unto large bowl. Mix well with hands.

6) Put concoction in baking/bread pan.

7) Depending on your oven, meat will cook between 1 hr and 15 min to 1 hr and 45 min.

8) Take out of oven and enjoy!

A while ago, there was a chat going on Skype with [info]thanfiction and others about Snape, Terry Boot, and Fenrir Greyback in Dumbledore's Army and the Year of Darkness. (Those who read it and didn't like the way Snape was portrayed might find this interesting.) This is mainly as a place keep this information and as a link to those at the DAYD community--though if others are interested, by all means enjoy.

Warning: Language, mentions of violence, murder, drugs, etc., Spoilers for DAYD.

Today was my first Valentine's Day where I actually was with someone. Love and I went to the movies to see Percy Jackson and the Lighting Thief (a very fun romp and as someone who read every Greek Mythology book in her school when she was 12-13), then to lunch, then saw "Edge of Darkness" (great performance by Mel Gibson, but much darker than we expected), and then had ice cream yogurt. All without leaving the shopping plaza near our apartment. Love and I decided we wanted to do the same thing every once in a while.

Thursday was Love's birthday as well. We went to dinner with some friends on Friday, and had a ton of fun.

Hope your weekend was special!

Ladies and Gentlemen, for the first time in 5 years, I watched the Oscars. For the first time ever, I watched the whole thing.I think I might make it a tradition.

Hugh Jackman was great.  I love musicals and his song-and-dance numbers were really neat. You could tell all of the dancers -- and Hugh -- were having a lot of fun.

Heath Ledger ... we love you!!!!  Very bittersweet speech from his family.

Speaking of which, I think "The Dark Knight" lost a lot of Oscars in the techie field that they should have won.  I'm sure "Slumdog Millionaire" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" were amazing movies, but ... I was kind of surprised "TDK" didn't at least win "Best Special Effects."

Watching the Academy Awards ... It's pretty amazing how seriously we as Americans take motion pictures.  I'm not sure how it is anywhere else, but at least in my home state, it's the Big Kahuna of award shows.  Just watching it ... the whole thing was pretty surreal.

And a little less seriously, here's a very funny little movie that deserves it's own award:

It reminds me a lot of my cat....

For those who don't know (or in case I've never mentioned it), I'm a reporter for the feature's section of our college newspaper (it's kind of a fluke how I got in -- ask me the story if you're interested ; D).  One of the perks is seeing a movie before everyone else and reviewing it.  So, I thought every time I review a film I'd share what I wrote with you guys.  Constructive criticism is welcomed!
